The Reduced Landcapes are concentrated almost to the max and focus on the essence of a landscape painting: background, middle and foreground. While the sky above and the sea below are present but only hinted at, the junction between the two is in focus and determining the painting. Essentially stripped of all decoration, the paintings attempt a redefinition of landscape, with the horizon, classically laid out in the golden ratio, or at about a third in the lower part of the painting, right in the middle, which significantly increases the abstraction content.

Die Reduzierten Landschaften konzentrieren sich auf die Essenz eines Landschaftsbildes: Hinter-, Mittel- und Vordergrund. Während oben der Himmel und unten die See oder das Land zwar vorhanden, aber irgendwie nur angedeutet sind, ist die Schnittstelle zwischen beiden im Fokus und bildbestimmend. Jeglicher Dekoration im Wesentlichen entkleidet, versuchen die Bilder eine Neudefinition von Landschaft, wobei der klassischerweise im goldenen Schnitt bzw. bei etwa einem Drittel im unteren Teil des Bildes angelegte Horizont genau in der Mitte liegt, was den Abstraktionsgehalt deutlich steigert.
